Get ready for a kayak route, kayaking through the history of the Spanish Civil War.
Kayak & Memory is an unprecedented and exclusive kayak route where, in addition to kayaking on the Ebro River, we will paddle through history to learn about all the events and the development of the Spanish Civil War, especially the Battle of the Ebro.
In this route, which will take us from Móra d’Ebre to Miravet, the central theme is the struggle of the pontoniers to keep the river crossings open, but we will also learn about how the conflict began and unfolded, and its protagonists.
The route will be guided by at least two guides: a canoeing instructor from Enblau and a historian-guide from Terra Enllà.
Approximate schedule:
- 9,30 a.m. – Start of the activity at the Nàutic de Móra d’Ebre area. We will begin with an introduction to the Battle of the Ebro by Terra Enllà and continue with tips and instructions for kayaking by Enblau. Please arrive a little before 9:30 a.m., as the activity starts promptly.
- During the route, there will be various stops, some on an island or riverside, others in the middle of the river, to continue with the narration of the events of the Battle of the Ebro.
- 1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. – Approximately at this time, we will arrive at Miravet, and we will accompany the drivers to retrieve their cars in Móra, for those who need it.
The arrival time is approximate, as it depends on many factors, such as the skill level of the group, the interaction involved (if there are more questions, it usually takes longer), the heat, river conditions, etc.
This is an activity open to all audiences:
- You don’t need to know how to paddle a kayak, as besides an initial explanation, there will be at least one kayak instructor accompanying the group to answer questions and ensure our safety.
- The historical narrative can be as simple or as detailed as the group requires; it will adapt to the needs of the participants on each occasion, making it appealing to both families and more demanding audiences.
- We have suitable gear for young children (small-sized life jackets), with a recommended minimum age of approximately 3 years old.
- Both adults and children need to be able to swim or at least float in water. Rental includes a life jacket, which must be worn during the route.
- You can choose between double or single kayaks, and this preference should be indicated when making the reservation.
