FEBRUARY 1ST: L’Hivernenca

Discovering the Ebre in Winter

The bare trees lie dormant in the cold of these days. Threads of mist glide along the riverbank. And the river, unhurried, continues on its way with a calm that conveys peace. In winter, the Ebre looks like a painted landscape: everything remains quietly in its place, waiting for the moment to burst back into life. Only the sound of the paddle breaks the silence… do you feel like experiencing it?

In winter, the Ebre is a solitary river waiting to be discovered. It is very unlikely to meet other paddlers, and the atmosphere is much calmer than at other times of the year. Wildlife is far more active and less shy: we are sure to come across cormorants or perhaps a distracted grey heron. A special opportunity to enjoy a different side of the Ebre.

As this season doesn’t invite getting wet, we will only offer single kayaks with spray decks. This way, together with a waterproof jacket, we will be well protected from the water and nice and warm.

Halfway through the route, we will share a mid-morning snack with hot drinks: freshly brewed coffee, herbal teas, and sweet and savoury snacks to recharge our energy before continuing on to Móra. A chance to experience the river in a very different way from what we are used to. You can’t miss it!
